Internship Program

The Finance Internship Program initiative enables CA Technologies business units to build sustainable high performing, appropriately resourced teams, in which individuals are trained, valued, empowered and motivated. You will have the opportunity to apply your finance and accounting knowledge and develop your leadership abilities while participating in the Finance Internship Program beginning June 2018 located in Islandia, NY on Long Island.


Your Role as a Summer Intern is that of a valuable and contributing member of a team. As an Intern, you will be responsible for contributing quality work, client service excellence and having fun along the way.


Successful candidates will be placed into key functions across the Finance organization dependent on a combination of interest, skills and experience, and growth potential. What you can expect:



  • The Worldwide Contract and Policy Management (WCPM) team primarily represents CA’s Finance Contracts Management team and works with folks globally and within many different departments at CA
  • Reporting and analysis of our contracting system (CLM) as well as setting up CLM to capture key information on a client by client basis, assist with updating our CM Standards (guides used by our Contracts Management team based on type of transaction), research data/contracts needed by our Contracts and Legal teams to help them to proactively review existing contractual data, work on and test changes to our quoting tools (CPQ) and assist with various items to help support our transition over to ASC 606.
  • Reviewing processes to be more efficient, and taking into account how these changes affect the different areas of CA such as Sales, Contract Management and Finance.  


Accounts Receivable:

  • Help maintain the integrity of the Accounts Receivable data
  • Provide analysis of data from key systems used to ensure data is accurate
  • Work with the General Ledger group, Cash Applications and various groups within CA to determine data needed to complete projects assigned


Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Assist in monthly forecast process.  Support monthly forecast reviews, run Hyperion reports
  • Participation in quarter end analytics, including – Board Reporting, External Reporting, and full earnings analysis (revenue/bookings)
  • Prepare weekly CFFO forecast material.  Partner with local finance teams to compile a weekly CFFO forecast for management review


Financial Planning & Analysis Topline:

  • Participation in quarter end analytics, including – Board Reporting, External Reporting, and full earnings analysis (revenue/bookings)
  • Assist in building and testing of management dashboards in Power BI, Qlikview, Hyperion, and various other financial applications
  • Support monthly forecast process – full topline readout, including: key operational drivers and variances, data entry and analysis, opportunities and risks
  • Prepare for FY20 Strategic Plan (assessment of current year performance, system readiness and QA testing, and portfolio review)


Internal Audit:

  • Internal Audit is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations.  It helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. 
  • Review key areas of the business as you perform financial, operational, GAAP, IT, fraud, forensic, and compliance audit procedures to identify and define issues, review and analyze evidence, and document processes and procedures. 


North America General Ledger:

  • Prepare bank reconciliations, record General Ledger journal entries and data entry for direct method cash flow statement.
  • Participate in AP projects and T&E auditing and perform tests of internal controls


How You’ll Stand Out:

  • A Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related field. Or, a 5th year Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3.0 GPA or better (transcript required)
  • Prior Internship experience a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate outstanding time management with the ability to quickly zero in on the critical few and put the trivial many aside
  • Strong career motivation with an interest in learning about the company and desire to pursue full time opportunities
